Waveney Advertiser

The Waveney Advertiser (or, technically, the Waveney edition of The Advertiser) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the Suffolk district of Waveney, embracing the towns of Lowestoft, Bungay, Beccles and Halesworth.

It was founded in 1976 as the Waveney & District Advertiser (it changed its title at the beginning of 1984) and is one of a series of three Advertiser freesheets distributed in eastern Norfolk and north-eastern Suffolk, together with the Norwich Advertiser and the Great Yarmouth Advertiser.

Despite its circulation area being in Suffolk, it’s published by Norwich-based Archant Norfolk, a branch of the Archant media group’s Archant Anglia division. The editorial offices are in Great Yarmouth but, perhaps surprisingly, aren’t collocated with the Great Yarmouth Advertiser.

The Advertiser‘s website carries a limited amount of news for Waveney District; more news is carried on the website of Archant’s paid-for title for the area, the Lowestoft Journal.

It comes out on Fridays. An e-edition’s also available free via the website.
