Luton on Sunday

Luton on Sunday is an unusual beast: a Sunday freesheet tabloid newspaper. It’s distributed to homes in Luton, Dunstable and the surrounding area in southern Bedfordshire.

It’s published from editorial offices in Luton by LSN Media Ltd, a branch of Cambridge-based Iliffe News & Media and thus, since January 2013, of the Local World group.

It was founded in 1993 as Sunday in Luton, but changed to its present title in the mid-1990s. Originally it was part of a two-title series together with Dunstable on Sunday; both shared a website. Both were in turn part of a wider group covering northern Buckinghamshire and Bedfordshire, including Bedfordshire on Sunday, the MK News (for Milton Keynes) and the Leighton Buzzard News.

It merged with Dunstable on Sunday in August 2008 as Luton & Dunstable on Sunday, before being relaunched as the Luton & Dunstable Express and shifting to Wednesday publication on New Year’s Eve 2008.

The Sunday newspaper was revived in August 2010 in response to demand from readers and advertisers in the area. The Luton & Dunstable Express (with which it shares a website) continues in existence.

There’s an e-edition available free on the website.
