The Chester & District Standard

The Chester & District Standard (informally, the Chester Standard; in its masthead, simply The Standard with a subscription of Chester & District) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the City of Chester and nearby parts of the unitary authority of Cheshire West and Chester.

It was established in 1980. It’s published by NWN Media (formerly North Wales Newspapers), an independent publisher dating back over 200 years. Along with The Ellesmere Port Standard, it’s a companion title to NWN’s evening paid-for title for the area, the Chester edition of the Leader. All three share editorial offices in Chester; the Chester Standard shares a website with the Leader.

The Standard series – which also includes The Flintshire Standard – claims to have the largest free distribution in Chester, Ellesmere Port and Flintshire.

It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition is also available via the website.
