All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

the Leader (Chester edition)

the Leader (Chester edition) – formerly the Chester Evening Leader – is an evening tabloid newspaper sold from Monday to Friday in and around the city of Chester.

It’s one edition of a series of three Leader titles for the West Cheshire and Deeside area: there are also editions for Wrexham and Flintshire. The series was founded in 1973 as the Evening Leader; Chester’s edition is the youngest of the three.

All three are published by NWN Media (formerly North Wales Newspapers), an independent family-owned company that’s been in operation since the 19th century. However, the Chester edition has its own editorial offices in Chester, which it shares with its weekly freesheet companions the Chester Standard and the Ellesmere Port Standard – the other two Leader editions are based in Mold.

An e-edition’s available by paid subscription on the website.
