Echo Extra (defunct)

The Echo Extra was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in and around the Welsh capital of Cardiff.

It was founded in 1980 as the Cardiff Post and was published by Media Wales Ltd, a division of the United Kingdom’s largest newspaper publisher as of the late 2000s, Trinity Mirror. It underwent a relaunch in August 2009 under the above title, intended to reflect its status as a companion to Media Wales’s major daily/evening title, the South Wales Echo. Its editorial offices were at the Media Wales headquarters in Cardiff.

It had no website of its own; as with all Trinity Mirror’s South Wales newspapers, its online presence was through WalesOnline.co.uk.

It came out on Thursdays. The final edition was distributed on 27 October 2011.
