Bangor Mail

The Bangor Mail is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold on the Bangor side of the Menai Strait in Gwynedd, including the town of Bangor itself as well as the smaller nearby towns of Llanberis, Bethesda, Tal-y-bont and Llanddeiniolen.

It was founded in March 1984 as the Bangor & Anglesey Weekly News but changed title to become the Bangor & Anglesey Mail the following year. It dropped the & Anglesey in August 2011. At the same time it switched from being a mostly-freesheet, part-paid-for title to an entirely paid-for title, bucking the trend among Britain’s local newspapers towards the freesheet business model.

It’s published by Trinity Mirror North Wales. The main editorial offices are in Caernarfon (collocated with the Caernarfon & Denbigh Herald), but there’s a news office in Bangor too.

It’s part of a two-title series together with the Holyhead Mail, with which it used to share a website. However, its theonlinemail.co.uk URL has now been superseded by the Bangor page of the Daily Post‘s website.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
