Congleton Guardian (defunct)

The Congleton Guardian was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in and around the towns of Congleton and Alsager in the unitary authority of Cheshire East and Biddulph in the Staffordshire Moorlands district.

It was launched in 1993 by Newsquest (Cheshire) as one of a three-title series of Guardian freesheets for southern Cheshire, and was produced from editorial offices in Congleton. It came out on Thursdays.

It ceased publication in December 2008, while the other two titles – the Crewe Guardian and the Nantwich Guardian – merged into a single Crewe & Nantwich Guardian. However, the website continues in operation, albeit only carrying current national news.
