Sheffield Weekly Gazette

The Sheffield Weekly Gazette is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered free to homes in the South Yorkshire city of Sheffield and in the surrounding area to the south of the city, as far out as Mosborough and Aughton and including Dronfield, Killamarsh and Eckington in neighbouring Derbyshire.

It was established in 1982 as a companion to Sheffield‘s only daily newspaper, The Star, with which it shares editorial offices in York Street. It’s published by Sheffield Newspapers Ltd, a branch of the Johnston Press regional newspaper publishing group.

From 2009 to March 2012 it was entitled simply the Weekly Gazette. Immediately before the March 2012 rebranding there were no fewer than seven editions:

  • Birley
  • Chapeltown
  • Crookes
  • Dore & Totley
  • Hillsborough
  • Norton & Beauchief
  • Walkley

They were replaced with just two: North and South.

It has no website of its own; the link below is to The Star‘s website.

It comes out on Thursdays.
