Rutherglen Reformer

The Rutherglen Reformer is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the towns of Rutherglen and Cambuslang to the south-east of Glasgow, in the South Lanarkshire council area.

It was founded in 1875 as The Rutherglen Reformer and Cambuslang Journal, but dropped the Cambuslang Journal from the title 10 years later. For four years from 1977 to 1981 it was briefly the South Glasgow and Rutherglen Reformer.

It’s published by Media Scotland, the Scottish arm of the Trinity Mirror group. The editorial offices are at Media Scotland’s headquarters in Hamilton.

It lost its own dedicated website at rutherglenreformer.co.uk in September 2013 when Media Scotland launched a new unified website for all its newspapers under the umbrella of the Daily Record and Sunday Mail.

It prides itself on carrying “gritty news…balanced with sport and features reflecting everyday life”.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
