Greenock Telegraph

The Greenock Telegraph(“Inverclyde’s Evening Newspaper”) is an evening tabloid newspaper published on Mondays to Saturdays and sold in the town of Greenock and other communities in the Inverclyde council area on the south bank of the Firth of Clyde from Bishopton to Largs, including the towns of Port Glasgow, Gourock, Inverkip, Wemyss Bay and Skelmorlie.

It was established in 1857 (as The Greenock Telegraph and Clyde Shipping Gazette) and is thus Scotland’s oldest evening newspaper – and was also Britain’s first halfpenny evening paper when it was founded. It’s published by the Romanes Media Group (formerly Clyde & Forth Press) from editorial offices in Greenock; it’s unique in that it’s the only Romanes title not to be published by a subsidiary division.

It introduced a part-paywall in January 2012.
