Surrey Herald

The Surrey Herald is a series of weekly tabloid newspapers sold widely in northern Surrey and on the south-western fringes of Greater London.

It was formerly published by North Surrey & London Newspapers, a branch of Trinity Mirror Southern, from editorial offices in Chertsey which it shared with its sister title the Staines News. However, a reorganisation in means that it’s now published by another branch of Trinity Mirror, Surrey & Berkshire Media, which was bought from the Guardian Media Group in March 2010. All S&B Media’s titles are based in their Guildford headquarters, although there’s still a presence in Chertsey.

It comes out on Wednesdays.

It was founded in 1892 as The Surrey Herald & Middlesex News and absorbed the Staines News in 1908. There have been countless local editions over the years, but at present there are three:

  • Addlestone Herald (Chertsey, Addlestone, Woking and Byfleet)
  • Walton Herald (Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge and Hersham)
  • Sunbury & Shepperton Herald

They all share the same getsurrey.co.uk website with S&B Media’s other Surrey titles.
