All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

The Review

The Review is a weekly freesheet tabloid for the Borough of Rugby in eastern Warwickshire and for much of the surrounding area, including bordering parts of Leicestershire and Northamptonshire as far as Lutterworth and Long Buckby.

It’s published by Northamptonshire Newspapers, part of the Johnston Press nationwide group of regional newspapers, as a companion to the paid-for weekly tabloid the Rugby Advertiser. It has no website of its own; its Internet presence is through the Advertiser‘s website.

It was founded as the Rugby Review in 1963. At some stage between 1985 and the early 2000s it was renamed The Rugby & Mid Warwickshire Review; it became the Rugby & Daventry Review (with editions for Rugby and Daventry) in 2005. The following year the Daventry Review split off as a separate title, leaving the Rugby Review to revert to its original title. In August 2011 it re-absorbed the Daventry Review as a sub-edition and was renamed simply The Review. The Daventry edition ceased publication in September 2012.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available on the website, although the news content is negligible.
