Chard Weekender
The Chard Weekender is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed through pickup points in the South Somerset town of Chard and surrounding villages.
It was launched in October 2010 by Lyme Media & Events and replaced a Chard Monthly Journal that had been started only six months previously.
In April 2012 Tindle Newspapers took over Lyme Media & Events and set up a new subsidiary company, Devon, Dorset and Somerset Series of Newspapers Ltd, to publish Lyme’s titles as well as Tindle’s own Pulman’s View From… series of freesheets for East Devon. The editorial offices of both operations (in the case of the Lyme titles, Lyme Regis) remained open.
It comes out on Fridays. An e-edition’s available free from the website.
