Wokingham, Crowthorne & Sandhurst News

The Wokingham, Crowthorne & Sandhurst News – the Wokingham News for short – is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in and around those three Mid Berkshire towns, between Reading and Bracknell.

It was founded in 1959 as the Wokingham News and absorbed another title, the Crowthorne & Sandhurst Newsweek in 2009 – sharing both titles in the masthead for a year before adopting the current name. It’s a sub-edition of a series of newspapers for eastern central Berkshire headed by the Bracknell News and published by the Berkshire Media Group, which in turn is a subsidiary of the Romanes Media Group (formerly Clyde & Forth Media). The editorial offices were in Bracknell, but moved recently to Reading.

All three titles in the series share a common website, with local news provided in separate sections; the links below are to the Wokingham and the Crowthorne and Sandhurst news sections.

The series was previously published as part of the portfolio of Berkshire Regional Newspapers, owned by Trinity Mirror, but Trinity Mirror sold the company to Berkshire Media for £10 million in July 2007.

The Wokingham News comes out on Thursdays.
