Mid Sussex Leader

The Mid Sussex Leader is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the Mid Sussex District, including the towns of Burgess Hill and Haywards Heath as well as smaller villages like Hurstpierpoint, Hassocks, Plumpton and Wivelsfield Green.

It was founded in 1985 as the Burgess Hill Leader. It’s published by Newsquest (Sussex), the Brighton-based local division of the Newsquest Media Group, who took it over when they bought Westminster Press in December 1996.

It’s one of several Leader freesheets, all of which have their web presence through the website of The Argus, the major evening newspaper for Brighton and Sussex. The editorial offices were formerly in Horsham, but have now been centralised at The Argus‘s offices in Brighton.

It comes out on Thursdays. A free e-edition is also available online, although it takes some finding – there’s no obvious link to it on the website.
