Weekly News Xtra (defunct)
The Weekly News Xtra was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in and around the towns of Runcorn and Widnes in the Borough of Halton in North West Cheshire, including the nearby villages of Frodsham, Helsby, Ditton and Palacefields.
It was published by Trinity Mirror North West & North Wales Ltd as a companion to the paid-for weekly tabloids the Runcorn Weekly News and the Widnes Weekly News. It replaced an earlier freesheet, the Runcorn & Widnes Herald & Post, in 2009.
It had no website of its own; its online presence was through the paid newspapers’ website. It also shared their editorial offices in Widnes.
It came out on Fridays. It ceased publication in the summer of 2011.
