The Docklands (defunct)

The Docklands was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed via branded newspaper dispensers in the Docklands area in the East End of London and in South East London, in an area covering Wapping, Greenwich, Bermondsey, Rotherhithe, Deptford, Poplar, Canning Town, Silvertown and North Woolwich. It was also delivered free to homes in the Shad Thames and Wapping area.

It was launched in January 2006 by Archant London, a branch of the Archant media group. The editorial offices were in Bethnal Green but moved to Archant London’s facility in Ilford in late 2010.

A sub-edition for the Greenwich Peninsula, The Peninsula, ceased publication at the end of 2010.

It came out on Tuesdays (although each edition bore the following Wednesday’s date). E-editions were also available online and by free subscription.

It was merged with the East London Advertiser in November 2011 to form a new, fatter newspaper: The Docklands & East London Advertiser. The URL below now redirects to the East London Advertiser‘s website, which was taken over by the new paper.
