Wellingborough & Rushden Herald & Post (defunct)

The Wellingborough & Rushden Herald & Post was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the towns of Wellingborough in the district of that name, Rushden in the district of East Northamptonshire, and surrounding smaller towns and villages including Irthlingborough and Higham Ferrers.

It was launched in 1981 and was part of a two-title Northants Herald & Post series. Until 2008 the series was published by Midland Weekly Media, part of the nationwide Trinity Mirror group, but was then taken over by LSN Media Ltd, part of the Iliffe News & Media group and thus part of the Local World group since the end of 2012.

Up until early 2009 there were as many as seven titles in the series, but of the others only the Northampton Herald & Post remained by 2013. By that time the two titles shared a common website; Wellingborough and Rushden had (and have) their own news section. The joint editorial offices moved from central Northampton to a new “media hub” on the eastern outskirts in March 2012.

It came out on Thursdays. An e-edition was also available free online.

The two Herald & Post titles merged at the end of 2013 to form a single Northants Herald & Post.
