Ashby Trader & Echo (defunct)

The Ashby Trader & Echo was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in and around the town of Ashby-de-la-Zouch in North West Leicestershire, on the border with Staffordshire.

It was launched in 1996 as the Ashby Echo and renamed in 2006. It was a sub-edition of Trinity Mirror Midlands’ Burton Trader, and shared its website and its editorial offices in nearby Burton-upon-Trent.

It closed, along with the Burton Trader and seven other Trinity Mirror Midland titles, in July 2009.

The website, part of Trinity Mirror’s icNetwork chain of websites, is still online, but the local news hasn’t been updated since July 2009.
