Manningtree Standard

The Manningtree Standard is one of two editions of the Harwich & Manningtree Standard, a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the North Essex district of Tendring, at either end of the Stour estuary. The Manningtree edition covers the town of Manningtree, the neighbouring villages of Lawford and Mistley, and the western part of the newspaper’s footprint.

The newspaper was founded in 1877. It’s published by Essex County Newspapers Ltd, part of Newsquest (Essex), from editorial offices in Clacton-on-Sea. As of February 2014 it was the only local paper for the Tendring district and the most popular title in its circulation area.

The other (lead) edition is the Harwich Standard, which covers Harwich, Parkeston, Wrabness and the eastern part of the newspaper’s footprint. Both share the same website.

It comes out on Fridays.
