Coastal Scene – East (defunct)

The Coastal Scene – East was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the north-eastern part of the Suffolk coastal area, centred on the town of Southwold and including the nearby towns of Aldeburgh, Leiston, Saxmundham and Yoxford.

It was published by Archant Suffolk, the county’s branch of media group Archant‘s Archant Anglia division, and was founded by them in March 2011 as a relaunch of their earlier weekly freesheet for the area, the Coastal Advertiser.

Most copies were delivered direct through letterboxes, but a small number were also available through pickup points at various Co-op stores, tourist information centres and a variety of other outlets including cafés, pubs and farm shops.

The editorial offices were in Framlingham at Archant Suffolk’s East Suffolk office, although there was also a newsdesk at Archant Suffolk’s headquarters in Ipswich.

In late January 2012 it merged with the other edition, the Coastal Scene – West, to form a single Coastal Scene title.

It came out on Fridays. Archived e-editions are still available free on the website, which was inherited by the unified title.
