Campaign (Blackwood) (defunct)

Campaign (Blackwood) was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper within a series delivered to households in the Valleys of Mid Glamorgan.

The Blackwood, Newbridge & Crosskeys edition covered the towns of Blackwood and Newbridge in the County Borough of Caerphilly (historically, they were part of Monmouthshire) plus other towns in the Sirhowy Valley as far up as Hollybush and as far down as Crosskeys, including the smaller towns of Ynysddu, Abercarn, Pontllanfraith, Pengarn, Oakdale and Crumlin. It was the last local sub-edition to remain in print, but ceased publication in January 2014; now the Caerphilly edition has expanded to cover the entire circulation area.

Campaign was founded in 1982, or possibly earlier. It’s published by Newsquest (Wales), whose headquarters in Newport now also host the series’s editorial offices after they moved from Caerphilly. The Campaign series had a single common website; the link below is to the news page for the Blackwood area.

It came out on Wednesdays.
