Wishaw World (defunct)

The Wishaw World was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the North Lanarkshire town of Wishaw near Motherwell.

It was founded in 1982 and was part of a Lanarkshire World group of freesheets published by Hamilton-based Scottish & Universal Newspapers (part of the UK-wide Trinity Mirror group; now merged into their Media Scotland division) as a companion to S&UN’s paid titles for the area – in the Wishaw World‘s case, the Wishaw Press weekly tabloid. The editorial offices were in Hamilton.

It had no website of its own; the link below is to the Press‘s website.

It came out on Fridays.

In August 2011 S&UN announced it was suspending publication of all its freesheets from the week ending 9 September 2011.
