The Stranraer & Wigtownshire Free Press is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the port town of Stranraer, the Rhins of Galloway peninsula, Wigtownshire and parts of South Ayrshire. It claims to be Wigtownshire’s best-selling paper.

It was founded in 1844. It’s an independent publication owned by Stair Estates, a rural-based land and small business management company based near Stranraer. The editorial offices are in Stranraer.

It comes out on Wednesdays, although the official day of publication is Thursday.
