All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Scottish Daily Express

The Scottish Daily Express (“Standing up for Scotland”, according to its strapline) is the edition for Scotland of the UK-wide mid-market daily tabloid newspaper the Daily Express and, like the parent paper, is published from Monday to Saturday.

It first appeared in 1934. It’s published by Express Newspapers. Most of the content is a repeat of what’s in the London edition, but the editorial team based in Glasgow also provide more in-depth coverage of news and sports stories relevant to Scotland.

Unlike its Sunday counterpart, the Scottish Sunday Express, it doesn’t have its own web address – just a section within the UK-wide site, albeit one with a distinctive masthead. However, the section’s a dummy – as soon as you click on a story that’s not about Scotland, you’re taken into the main site, and have to click on “Scotland” in the header navigation bar to return to the Scottish section.
