Moffat News

The Moffat News is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the town of Moffat, the nearby village of Beattock and the northern end of Annandale in Dumfriesshire.

It’s part of a series of newspapers published for Annandale by independent publishers DNG Media (who also publish the weekly freesheet the Dumfries Courier); the other titles in the series are the Annandale Observer and the Annandale Herald.

Its history goes back to 1914 and the creation of the Moffat News and Annandale Herald as a sub-edition of what was then the Annandale Herald and Moffat News. It became the Moffat News and Times in 1926, and simply the Moffat News in 1971.

All three Annandale newspapers share editorial offices in Annan and a common website with the company. (The News used to have its own URL at moffatnews.co.uk, which redirected to the DNG website, but that domain appears to have been relinquished in February 2013.)

The News comes out on Thursdays.
