The Glasgow South and Eastwood Extra

The Extra – Glasgow South and Eastwood (usually referred to simply as The Extra) is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the Southside of the city of Glasgow and the neighbouring parts of East Renfrewshire, including the towns of Newton Mearns and Eaglesham.

It was launched in 1981 as the Glasgow South and Eastwood Extra but adopted the rearranged title in 1997. By the mid-2000s it was published by Archant but was taken over by Johnston Press along with Archant’s other Scottish titles in early 2007, and is now published by their Johnston (Falkirk) division. With the closure of three other weekly titles in October 2012, The Extra became Johnston’s only freesheet in Scotland.

The editorial offices are in Pollokshields.

It comes out on Thursdays.
