Ayrshire World (defunct)

The Ayrshire World was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes across the major towns of the historic county of Ayrshire (including the modern council areas of South Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and North Ayrshire), particularly Kilmarnock, Irvine, Kilwinning, Prestwick, Ayr and Troon.

It was established in 1981 and was published by Scottish & Universal Newspapers (a division of Trinity Mirror covering Scotland, now part of Media Scotland) as a companion to its weekly titles for the area: the Ayrshire Post, the Irvine Herald and the Kilmarnock Standard. As such, it had no website of its own; the link below is to the website of the Ayrshire Post, with which it shared editorial offices in Ayr.

It came out on Fridays.

Scottish & Universal Newspapers closed the Ayrshire World in 2009 as part of its retrenchment measures in the face of falling advertising revenue.
