Down Democrat (defunct)

The Down Democrat was a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the town of Downpatrick and the Down District in central County Down.

It was published by the Cork-based TCH (Thomas Crosbie Holdings) group, who also produce the Irish Examiner and the Newry Democrat. The editorial offices were in Downpatrick.

It came out on Tuesdays.

As of March 2009 it could claim to be the newest paper for the Down District. However, in June 2009 it was absorbed into the Newry Democrat as the Newry Democrat incorporating the Down Democrat.
