Belfast Telegraph
The Belfast Telegraph is the biggest selling newspaper published in Northern Ireland.
Founded in 1870 as the Belfast Evening Telegraph, it now produces several different editions, although the afternoon “City Edition” and the evening “Final Edition” (both broadsheets) remain more popular than the morning “Compact Edition”, which is more tabloid in content as well as in format.
Other editions include a “County Edition”, a “North West Telegraph” for the area around Derry, and a (compact) “Final Edition” on Saturdays.
It is owned by Independent News and Media, although its political outlook is conservative compared to the nationally-produced Independent. In terms of Northern Ireland politics, its stance is considered to be moderate Unionist.
