All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Banbridge Leader

The Banbridge Leader is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the town of Banbridge in western County Down.

It’s published by Morton Newspapers, ultimately owned by UK-wide regional newspaper publishers Johnston Press. The editorial offices were in Banbridge until 2012, but have now moved to Lisburn.

It was launched in 1994 as a spin-off of The Lisburn Leader, which has since closed down in favour of the Lisburn Echo. There’s a sister newspaper in the series: the Dromore Leader, published for that town. A companion freesheet, the Banbridge Weekender, has apparently ceased publication.

It comes out on Wednesdays. A digital edition’s also now available by paid subscription.
