A wheelie stupid cyclist
Anthony Bulbrook of Chatteris in the Fens got more than he bargained for when he laughed at a policeman while riding down the middle of the road, swerving from one side to the other and riding on the pavement, reports the Wisbech Standard:
Wisbech Standard: Court is told “danger rider” taunted police
Given that he also ignored a Give Way sign and rode on the wrong side of the road, it’s hardly surprising that he was fined £100 and ordered to pay costs and a surcharge.
What is surprising is that the Standard put a poll on its website asking readers if Fenland magistrates were right to fine him £100 for careless driving. (The article mentions “riding without due care and attention”.) Do they honestly think anyone’s going to vote “No” – unless they think the fine was too lenient?
