The Staines Leader is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the North Surrey town of Staines and surrounding towns on the south-western fringes of Greater London, including Virginia Water, Egham, Wraysbury, Feltham, Sunbury and Shepperton.

It’s published by the Southern division of Trinity Mirror, currently (May 2008) the UK’s biggest newspaper publishing group.

There’s one local sub-edition: the Feltham Leader.

It comes out on Thursdays.

The Royston Weekly News is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper issued to homes in the town of Royston at the northernmost point of Hertfordshire, as well as the surrounding parts of both Hertfordshire and neighbouring Cambridgeshire (including the small towns of Bassingbourn and Melbourn).

It’s published by Cambridge Newspapers Ltd, owned by Yattendon Investment Trust. It’s one of a range of weekly freesheet newspapers distributed by CN in Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Essex and Suffolk.

It’s published by the Johnston Press-owned Derbyshire Times Group (Wilfred Edmunds Ltd), who also publish the Mansfield Chad series of paid weekly tabloids. (In fact, the Observer didn’t have a website of its own as of May 2008: the link below is for the Chad’s website.)

The Stratford Observer is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper sold around the Warwickshire town of Stratford-upon-Avon and nearby Henley-in-Arden.

It’s published from offices in Stratford by Redditch-based Observer Standard Newspapers Ltd, founded by Chris and Pat Bullivant in 1989. OSN is responsible for 18 weekly freesheets, most of them distributed in Warwickshire, Worcestershire or the former West Midlands Metropolitan County.

The Observer comes out on Thursdays.

It’s published by the Greater Manchester Weekly Newspaper Group, part of Manchester Evening Newspapers, which itself is part of the Guardian Media Group.

It was Community Newspaper of the Year in 1999.

It comes out on Wednesdays. It has a sister freesheet newspaper: the Stockport Times.
