The York Star (defunct)
The York Star was a weekly freesheet newspaper delivered to homes in and around the City of York, including the outlying towns and villages of Strensall, Haxby, Stamford Bridge, Bishopthorpe and Copmanthorpe.
It was founded in the early 1980s. It was published by Newsquest (York) as a companion to its paid weekly title The Press, with which it shared editorial offices (and a web presence – it had no website of its own).
It came out on Thursdays. It merged with the Selby Star in 2009 to form the York and Selby Star.
