All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

North Yorkshire News

The North Yorkshire News is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in northern North Yorkshire, from Richmond and Catterick in the north to Ripon and Easingwold in the south, and including the towns of Bedale and Thirsk.

It was founded in 1980. Apart from three years from 1985 to 1988 when it was known as the North Yorkshire Weekly News, it’s kept the same title throughout.

It’s published by Harrogate-based Ackrill Media, part of the Johnston Press group of regional newspaper publishers. It was a companion to the paid-for Northallerton, Thirsk & Bedale Times until that paper ceased publication in February 2009. The editorial offices moved within Northallerton from the Central Arcade to the County Business Park in 2013.

It comes out on Wednesdays.
