All about the United Kingdom’s national, regional and local press

Mirfield Reporter

The Mirfield Reporter is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in and around the West Yorkshire town of Mirfield in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, to the west of Dewsbury.

It was founded in 1881 as The Mirfield and Ravensthorpe Reporter and kept that title until 1969. After two years as the Mirfield Reporter & District News, it became simply the Mirfield Reporter in 1971 and has kept that title since then, apart from a three-year interlude as The Reporter from 1997 to 2000.

It’s published by The Reporter Ltd, which is based in Wakefield and is a subsidiary of the Yorkshire Weekly Newspaper Group – itself part of nationwide regional newspaper publishers Johnston Press.

The Reporter is a local edition of the Dewsbury Reporter; its editorial offices are collocated with its parent paper in Dewsbury. But it has its own separate website and social media presence.

It comes out on Fridays.
