Sandwell Chronicle

The Sandwell Chronicle is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the Metropolitan Borough of Sandwell in the West Midlands, covering the towns of West Bromwich, Wednesbury, Oldbury, Smethwick, Tipton and Warley, and the Great Barr area on the fringes of the City of Birmingham and the Metropolitan Borough of Walsall.

It’s published by Express & Star Newspapers (part of the Midland News Association group) as the freesheet companion to the Sandwell edition of the Express & Star evening paid-for tabloid newspaper. As such, it doesn’t have a website of its own; the link below is to the Sandwell news pages of the Express & Star’s website.

It was established in 1981 as the Sandwell Trader, one of a series of Trader freesheets. The series was renamed the Trader and Chronicle in 1984, then simply the Chronicle in 1990. In 2007 the Sandwell Chronicle absorbed the Great Barr and Erdington Chronicle, which had been launched in the 1990s; the amalgamated title was known as the Sandwell and Great Barr Chronicle until 2012.

The editorial office is in Queen Street in central Wolverhampton.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available on the website.
