Yeovil Times (defunct)

The Yeovil Times was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in the Yeovil area in south-eastern Somerset, including the towns of Crewkerne, Ilminster, Chard and Wincanton, as well as Sherborne in neighbouring Dorset.

It was published by Western Gazette Ltd, a division of Northcliffe Media, which in turn was the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional newspaper publishing wing until it was spun off to form the new Local World media group at the end of 2012. It was a companion title to their paid-for weekly newspaper the Western Gazette. It had no editorial offices or website of its own; it shared both with the Gazette.

It came out on Wednesdays.

It ceased publication in November 2011. A separate edition for the Crewkerne area, the Crewkerne Times, closed at the same time.

E-editions are still available, although you have to search for them – the last available issue appears to be the one dated 21 September 2011.
