Yeovil Express (defunct)

The Yeovil Express was a weekly freesheet newspaper published by Newsquest (South West) in tabloid format and distributed to households in Yeovil and other towns and villages in South-East Somerset.

It started life in 1988 as the Yeovil edition of the Somerset Express, a series of freesheets covering the whole county. It was relaunched in 1994 as the Express & Star – not to be confused with the much larger evening newspaper of that name sold in the West Midlands – and finally became the Yeovil Express in 1998.

It was part of Newsquest’s thisisthewestcountry.co.uk network. The editorial offices were in Chard.

It came out on Wednesdays.

It ceased publication in December 2011, just a few weeks after the demise of its rival the Yeovil Times.
