Mendip Messenger (defunct)

The Mendip Messenger was a weekly freesheet newspaper for Mid Somerset, including the towns of Wells, Frome, Shepton Mallet, Somerton, Midsomer Norton, Radstock and Glastonbury.

It was founded in 2003 as the Mid Somerset Times but renamed the Mendip Messenger in 2005. It was published on Thursdays by Wells-based Midsomerset Newspapers Ltd, a division of Northcliffe Media, which at the time was the Daily Mail & General Trust‘s regional newspaper publishing arm. It had no website of its own; its Internet presence was through the thisissomerset.co.uk website shared by Northcliffe Media’s publications for the county.

It ceased publication in early 2009.
