Gloucestershire Independent

The Gloucestershire Independent is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper distributed to homes in South Gloucestershire, in a circulation area which covers the towns of Cirencester, Nailsworth, Stroud, Stonehouse, Dursley, Tetbury and Minchinhampton.

It’s published by Newsquest (Gloucestershire). It used to be produced from the editorial offices of the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard in Cirencester, but has now moved to share offices with the Gloucestershire County Gazette in Dursley. (The move to Dursley appears to represent a change of plan; in early July 2011 Newsquest (Gloucestershire) had announced plans to close their existing offices in Cirencester, Dursley and Stroud and relocate to new offices in Tetbury.)

Its distribution area overlaps part of the Wilts and Gloucestershire Standard‘s, as well as that of the Stroud News & Journal.

It was founded in 1994. Before 2003 it was known as the County Independent.

It has no website of its own; the link below is to the Standard‘s website.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available free on the website.
