Winchester News Extra

The Winchester News Extra is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for Winchester, the county town of Hampshire, and nearby towns and villages including Alresford, Bishop’s Waltham and King’s Worthy.

It was launched in June 2012 by Newsquest (Southern) as one of three News Extra companions to their paid-for tabloids the Southern Daily Echo and the weekly Hampshire Chronicle, the others being the Eastleigh News Extra and (for the Echo only) the Southampton News Extra. Unlike the other two, however, the editorial offices are collocated with those of the Chronicle in Winchester rather than with the Echo in the Southampton suburb of Redbridge.

Although most of the circulation is direct to homes, copies are also distributed through pickup points at shops and estate agents as well as Winchester railway station.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available free on the Chronicle‘s website.
