Reading Midweek

The Reading Midweek is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper for the Berkshire town of Reading and the surrounding area, covering the nearby towns of Pangbourne, Shinfield, Burghfield and Burghfield Common as well as many smaller villages along the M4/A4 corridor.

It was founded in 1978 as the Reading Chronicle Midweek, changing its title to simply The Midweek in 2001 and then to the Reading Chronicle Extra in 2006.

In July 2007 Berkshire Regional Newspapers, a division of what was then Clyde & Forth Press but has since become the Romanes Media Group, took it over from Trinity Mirror Southern. It changed to its present title the following year.

As the original name suggests, it’s a companion to the paid-for weekly tabloid newspaper the Reading Chronicle and shares that title’s website and editorial offices (in Reading).

It comes out on Tuesdays.
