Fareham & Gosport Journal (defunct)

The Fareham & Gosport Journal was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the East Hampshire coastal region from Portchester to Hamble-le-Rice, including the towns of Gosport, Lee-on-the-Solent and Stubbington.

It was published by Portsmouth Publishing & Printing, a branch of regional newspaper publishers Johnston Press‘s South Division. It was one of three Journal editions founded in 1984 that accompanied Johnston’s paid-for daily title for the area, The News; the other editions covered Portsmouth City and Havant & Waterlooville. All shared The News‘s editorial offices in Portsmouth, and its website.

It came out on Thursdays.

The Journal series was “mothballed” at the end of October 2012 to enable PP&P to concentrate its resources on producing The News.
