Dartford Messenger

The Dartford Messenger is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in the Borough of Dartford in North West Kent, including the town of Dartford itself and nearby Swanley.

It’s published by the KM Group (formerly the Kent Messenger Group) and is part of a two-title series within the Kent Messenger group of newspapers, together with the Gravesend Messenger. The group’s editorial offices are in Aylesford just outside Maidstone, but there’s an office in Gravesend too (details given below).

Its origins go back to the Kent Messenger & Dartford Telegraph, established in 1881. However, although it was one of the earliest offshoots of the original Kent Messenger, it’s also one of the most recent – the freestanding Dartford Messenger didn’t appear until 2000.

There’s a companion freesheet, the Gravesend & Dartford Messenger Extra.

It comes out on Thursdays. It’s also available as an e-edition by paid subscription.
