Banbury Review (defunct)

The Banbury Review (formally, the Banbury & District Review) was a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to households in and around the towns of Banbury and Chipping Norton in northern Oxfordshire, Brackley in southern Northamptonshire, and nearby villages.

It was launched in November 1970 as the Banbury Focus, but renamed simply Focus a year later. In 1985 it reverted to the original title and kept it until 1989, when it was relaunched as the Banbury Citizen – again shortening its title shortly afterwards to Citizen. In 2003 it became the Banbury & District Citizen; its last name change came in 2005.

It was published by Northamptonshire Newspapers, a branch of regional newspaper publisher Johnston Press‘s Midland division, as a companion to their paid-for title for the area, the Banbury Guardian, whose editorial offices (in Banbury) and website it shared.

It came out on Fridays.

It ceased publication in 2012.
