Wigan Evening Post
The Wigan Evening Post is an evening tabloid newspaper for the Lancashire town of Wigan, the surrounding area and neighbouring towns including Leigh, Ashton-in-Makerfield, Newton-le-Willows and Standish.
It was founded in the 1950s. It’s published by Lancashire Publications, a subdivision of Lancashire Evening Post Ltd, based in Preston, which in turn is owned by Edinburgh-based regional press giants, Johnston Press.
It shares a website (and editorial offices in Wigan) with two other Wigan newspapers, the weekly paid newspaper the Wigan Observer and the freesheet weekly the Wigan Reporter. However, its “sister newspapers” according to the Johnston Press set-up are the St Helens Reporter and the Leigh Reporter – not, as one might expect, the Lancashire Evening Post (of which, technically, it’s a local edition).
