Messenger Extra (defunct)
The Messenger Extra was a monthly freesheet tabloid delivered to virtually all homes in the Metropolitan Borough of Trafford in western Greater Manchester.
It was launched by Newsquest (North West) in August 2010 as a companion to its two-title weekly freesheet Messenger series for the area, consisting of the Sale & Altrincham Messenger and the Stretford & Urmston Messenger. Its launch meant that some gaps in coverage left by the weekly titles were plugged.
The Messenger Extra shared editorial offices in Sale and a website with its two parent titles.
It generally came out on the third Tuesday of every month except December. An e-edition was also available free on the website; the last issue appeared in January 2012.
