St Helens Star

The St Helens Star is a weekly freesheet tabloid newspaper delivered to homes in the Metropolitan Borough of St Helens in Merseyside (formerly Lancashire), including the towns of Newton-le-Willows, Prescot, Knowsley, Rainford and Haydock as well as St Helens itself.

It was launched in 1973 and is published by Newsquest (North West), part of the nationwide Newsquest group owned by the US-based Gannett Company, Inc. The editorial offices are in St Helens.

Although it’s a freesheet, a very small number (fewer than one per cent of the print run) are sold by newsagents or by subscription.

It comes out on Thursdays. An e-edition’s also available free on the website.
