Skelmersdale Advertiser

The Skelmersdale Advertiser is a weekly tabloid newspaper sold in and around the New Town of Skelmersdale in south-western Lancashire.

It was founded in 1966 as the Skelmersdale New Town Advertiser, but dropped the New Town from the title in 1986.

It’s a sub-edition of the considerably older Ormskirk Advertiser and shares the same editorial offices in Southport together with the Southport Visiter. Both newspapers are published by Trinity Mirror North West & Wales. They share the same website; the link below is to the Skelmersdale news pages.

There used also to be an associated freesheet newspaper, the Midweek Advertiser, but that closed in October 2008.

It comes out on Thursdays.
